We finally have a lawnmower.
heard that its taking 24 hrs from Bhubaneswar to Kolkata.
HR Classes were again in the middle of a storm. this time the winds uprooted everything taht came in the way. Dykes, dams ...how is this to be helped?????
I have gotten into the habit of beating up people. Have to do something about that.
After Outsider, for the first time a book has really excited me..Doris Lessing's The Golden Notebook has achieved exactly what Coelho failed to do in Eleven Minutes...YES...showing an effortless understanding of women ....(k fine, it was written by a woman)....guess men will never accept that there are territories they can only invade but never really occupy....that kind of humility is unknown to them.
Can't believe ..I read the preface twice!!!!

What's taking 24 hours to get from Bhubaneswar to Kolkata? The lawnmower? How exceedingly strange.
ReplyDeleteAnd your HR class-related metaphors are growing ever more obscure.
you forgot to get the answer-call option in your phone fixed! :D
ReplyDelete1.the train (wht else does anyone take??)
ReplyDelete2.yes we have a lawnmower on campus. They have been talking abt it fr years now. for further comments either contact the gardeners or the VC himself.
3.that was about the Pragmatic class, i thought i told yu abt it.
I agree with sroyon about the obscurity of the HR related metaphors... they should be evident to the reader and we must not be forced to rely on even more obscure conversations....
ReplyDeleteand abt lawnmowers - FINALLY!!!! I have been going on abt the lack of these things since my first year! But now i have a new reason to crib - they have got MANUAL lawnmowers.... the least that they could have done was buy the mechanical one!! sheesh!
you mean the electric one...
ReplyDeleteya abt the obscurity bit...i dont really have any/the audience in mind...
wll sort of...keep taht in mind...
bah! what use are the lawnmowers anymore?.... the gardners are sick of tugging-pushing-strainingtill theirbloodvesselsburst the lawnmower and have decided to go back to tried and tested sickels!
ReplyDeletetrust the college to have bungled up a simple purchase!!!!
"Still, I've always received letters from men about the book, some of whom have never even noticed that it was 'meant' to be for women"--Doris Lessing talks to Sarah O' Reilly about the Golden Notebook.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I guess it shows "an effortless understanding of women".
@indecision..
ReplyDeletei saw that...:(.
@mayan
of course I ve read that interview. The book does go on to discuss power, communism etc...Obviously it was about an era and not women alone.
